'Expect my resignation by EOD': Micromanaging boss tries to force her top salesperson to commute to the office 3x a week, he refuses and quits

Working from home has changed the way that businesses operate, but micromanagers everywhere are rolling in their graves over the fact that they can no longer survey their employees like they used to. Micromanaging bosses are absolutely livid that their crew can work from the comfort of their home, proving that they are 10x more productive without middle management watching their every step. One salesman, a top performer at his company, recently leveraged his clout over a micromanaging boss, doing what we all wish we could do and sticking a big middle finger up to bad management.

u/Positive_Walk_3348 is a salesman who won't take any flack from his bosses. After years of loyalty and earning his company hundreds of thousands of dollars, he earned the privilege of working from his suburban home almost an hour's commute away from the main company office. Not only did this hybrid schedule offer him flexibility and a better quality of life, but it boosted his sales and allowed him to drive more leads, have more meaningful meetings with clients, and avoid wasting time in the workplace with idle chit chat. Although he didn't technically report to anybody, he had a 'manager' who was on his way out to a new company and a new position.

Enter the new hire that replaced his old manager.

Our salesman's new manager came in immediately with the intent to "manage the team", which is a bad omen to independent workers. She immediately demanded that her top performing salesman report to her in the office no fewer than 3x a week, which steals at least 6+ productive hours from the man's work schedule– just to account for the commute. Naturally, the salesman refused and tried to reason with her, to no avail.

Instead of accepting the forced terms of the new micromanager, he informed her and upper management that he'll be seeking new opportunities that fit a WFH schedule and accommodated his needs. Heck yeah! Without hesitation, the salesman left the company and has already lined up several new interviews with higher paying WFH jobs.
